Pediatric Surgeon

For more than two decades, Dr. Anthony Tsai has perfected his skill as a pediatric trauma surgeon, preparing him for complex cases like that of Cameron Wamsher. During one of the multiple surgeries needed to treat the critically injured 8-year-old, he skillfully repaired the severe damage to Cameron’s intestines.

“We did our best to get him where he needed to be,” says Dr. Tsai, underscoring the importance of the team effort that saved the boy’s life. “Here we have a system in place that is designed to care for critical patients like Cameron. It’s not just the surgeons and the nurses, but other ancillary staff who are ready to be part of the team.”

Dr. Tsai’s skill at complex procedures is matched by his genuine love of caring for children. He has a natural gift for making kids smile and putting them at ease that helps drive his passion for his work.

“Stories like Cameron’s are a heartwarming reminder of why we do what we do, the difference we can make, one patient at a time,” he says. “If there is only one Cameron in my whole career, that’s enough.”
