About Me
I am a board-certified neonatal nurse practitioner in the Penn State Health Children’s Hospital NICU. I also lead the Outreach Team that teaches lay midwives in the surrounding Amish and Mennonite communities, the Helping Babies Breathe program. The program instructs caregivers in rural areas, locally, and globally, in the skills of newborn resuscitation to reduce neonatal mortality and improve delivery outcomes. I have expanded this program to serve many communities throughout Pennsylvania.
In 2020, I obtained my national certification for the care of extremely low birth weight newborns (ELBW-C) and am interested in improving the quality of care for those infants. I am also a member of the Thermoregulation Quality Improvement Team and previously served on the NICU's Small Baby Unit Team, with a special emphasis on thermoregulation. I enjoy teaching physician assistants, neonatal nurse practitioners, medical students, residents, and other trainees.
