About Me
Dr. ShaEssa Wright is a Dually Board Certified Physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pediatrics at Penn State Children’s Hospital. She specializes in Cerebral palsy and Spasticity Management, Pediatric Concussion, Brain Injury, Trauma, Neuromuscular Degenerative Diseases, Pediatric Spinal cord injury, Stroke, Pediatric Cancer Rehabilitation and Musculoskeletal injuries.
Dr. Wright received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Howard University, her Masters of Biomedical Science from Rowan University School of Biomedical Sciences and her medical degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute where she was the Chief Academic Resident, then completed her fellowship training in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Wright has presented regionally and nationally at conferences including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Association of Academic Physiatrist Annual Meetings. She has remained invested in the advancement of underrepresented minorities in medicine through national organizations including Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) and the Student National Medical Association (SNMA). She serves on various committees at Penn State including the Pediatric Concussion Clinic Committee, Cerebral Palsy Clinic Committee, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program Evaluation, Pediatric Rehab Medicine Patient Satisfaction and CARF Accreditation Committee, Black Faulty and Professional Staff Association, Diversity Scholarship Committee for the Penn State College of Medicine and the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Department Diversity Council. She is a dedicated educator and oversees the Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Curriculum for the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residents at Penn State College of Medicine.
