The Penn State Health Approach to Internal Medicine
The general internal medicine doctors at Penn State Health specializes in your wellness. We help you stay healthy throughout all stages of your life - from young adulthood through the retirement years. Our internal medicine doctors help keep you well and treat you when you are sick. We specialize in preventive care, acute health concerns and chronic disease management like high blood pressure and diabetes. We get to know your health history, your lifestyle and health goals. We partner with you to help keep you well and feel your best.
If you need to see a specialist, we help coordinate your care. That means, you have access to all the expertise and resources throughout our nationally recognized health system. We also coordinate care if you need to be hospitalized and in rehabilitation centers or skilled nursing facilities after hospitalization.
In addition to these primary care services, we also have dedicated clinics to serve our patients in need of addiction care, women’s health and contraceptive care, joint injections and other procedures, behavioral health, and medical consultation.
As a primary care practice at an academic medical center, one of our primary goals is to train the next generation of primary care health care professionals. Our nationally known educators are proudly teaching internal medicine residents, medical students and other health professional students to provide compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered care. We are equally committed to improving access to care for all populations and eliminating healthcare disparities.
