JOB SUMMARY:

Penn State Health has an opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to provide direct patient care in our Critical Care Units at Holy Spirit Medical Center and Hampden Medical Center.

The Nurse Practitioner is credentialed and works independently and in collaboration with the attending physicians, fellows, residents, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to provide specialty care to critically ill patients. The Nurse Practitioner provides education and instruction, both formal and informal, to residents, nurses, students, and other healthcare professionals.

The Nurse Practitioner provides in-house, round-the-clock coverage, coordinating, providing, and managing the care of critically ill patients. Must be able to perform arterial lines, central lines, vent management, etc. Will rotate between Hampden Medical Center and Holy Spirit Medical Center. This position includes weekends and rotating holidays.

An Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in a Critical Care or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program with a minimum of one year of CRNP experience (which could include clinical rotations or relevant clinical experience in applicable specialty) required and three (3) years of critical care experience as a staff nurse required.
  • Currently licensed to practice as a CRNP by the Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required.
  • National certification as an advanced practice nurse is required.
  • Must possess knowledge of appropriate critical care, including ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life support and BLS (Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support Certification.
