The Penn State Health Children’s approach to pediatric eye and vision

Good vision plays a huge role in a child’s development. If your child has an eye or vision problem, they may struggle to interact with others and the world around them, and this can affect everything from learning at school to making friends. Pediatric ophthalmologists, optometrists and orthoptists are specially trained to assess and treat eye and vision problems in children. Our pediatric ophthalmology and optometry team cares for children up to age 16, with evaluation and treatment methods designed to meet all their unique needs.

Comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology and optometry care

From eyeglasses and contacts to eye surgery, our team delivers comprehensive, advanced testing and treatment for a wide range of pediatric eye and vision conditions. We also work with other specialists to evaluate and care for vision problems related to other health conditions. In addition to treating children, we provide specialized care for adults with strabismus (crossed eyes).
