The Penn State Health Women and Babies Center at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center provides exceptional care no matter where you are in your journey to parenthood. We help deliver more than 2,000 babies a year, so you can be confident in our expertise. Our goal is to prioritize your health and safety, while making your experience as comfortable and rewarding as possible.
Our team of community medicine providers, midwives, obstetrics specialists and high-risk maternal-fetal medicine specialists offer every level of obstetric care. The center also features everything new moms and babies need to thrive together: private labor and delivery, cesarean section operating rooms, pre- and post-delivery rooms, a well-baby nursery and the highest-level neonatal intensive care unit.

Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, the only locally based academic medical center in central Pennsylvania, offers a full range of maternity services. They include obstetrics and gynecology, reproductive endocrinology and maternal fetal medicine for the management of high-risk and complex pregnancies. You and your baby will have access to the latest technological advances, clinical protocols and innovative research, ensuring that your maternity care and birth experience are personal and compassionate.
Comprehensive, lifesaving care for newborns
The Labor and Delivery Unit is located in Penn State Health Children’s Hospital to provide a convenient continuum of care with the Women and Babies Center and the region’s only Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This NICU offers the highest level of comprehensive, lifesaving care to the most critically ill newborns. It is the only NICU in central Pennsylvania to offer a full range of services including 24/7 on-site surgery.
Childbirth and parenting classes
Penn State Health Children's Hospital offers a full range of pregnancy, childbirth and parenting classes to help you care for you and your baby.
Breastfeeding support for you and your baby
Our breastfeeding program is designed to help you and your infant throughout the breastfeeding experience by providing the emotional support and tools you need to be successful in breastfeeding. Families have access to on-site lactation consultants, increased breastfeeding education resources and appointments available in a breastfeeding-friendly office.
