Be the voice of patients and families
Patients and families are central to everything we do. Penn State Health’s Patient and Family-Centered Care Advisory Councils bring together families, patients and hospital staff to help provide the best care to our patients.
Our council includes patients, family members and hospital staff. Our Council meets for two hours in the evening, typically once a month.
Members of our Advisory Councils speak from experience – they’ve been patients, family members and/or caregivers. They know that sharing their experiences can help improve the health and well-being of every patient at Penn State Health.
Role of the Patient and Family Advisory Counsel
- Receive input from the patient and family perspective to ensure our services meet their needs
- Establish a forum to help develop creative solutions for the health system and its staff
- Meet with a variety of hospital leaders to collaborate on new initiatives
What to expect at a council meeting?
- Collaborate and share experiences with council members to improve the quality of care.
- Identify trends, needs and concerns of families, patients and the community at large.
- Discuss system and local initiatives for healthcare quality; safety, effectiveness, timeliness, patient-centeredness, equality and efficiency.
- Support workgroup initiatives to bring first-hand perspective for marketing, research, patient experience and safety to improve practices and patient education materials.
